These are very sweet and versatile birds. Some people use them to raise as meat birds and others keep as pets or layers. Jersey Giants are good layers. They lay between 150 to 200 eggs a year and tend to lay throughout the winter as well. They lay large to extra large brown eggs.
We have been raising Jersey Giants since 2021 and love this breed!
We breed Blue and Black Jersey Giants. Every now and then we do get a splash. There is a chance you can get a chance at all 3 of those colors with hatching eggs. Below is what your chances are when breeding the colors to each other:
BLACK X BLUE = 50% BLACK X 50 % BLUE
BLACK X SPLASH= 100% BLUES
BLACK X BLACK - 100% BLACKS
SPLASH X SPLASH= 100% SPLASH
SPLASH X BLUE = 50% BLUE x 50% SPLASH
BLUE X BLUE= 50% BLUE x 25% BLACK x 25% SPLASH
Some of our flock is a mix of Rob, Sellers, Vaugh lines and end of 2024 we added some nice stock from Tim Johnson as well to help our line continue to improve.
Every year our line improves are we are excited for 2025.
